SUMMARY:BPG PHOTOGRAPHY OPPORTUNITY – HICKORY LOG BACKROADS CENTURY BIKE RIDE
DESCRIPTION:Photographers Needed \nIn the past\, several BPG members volunteered to photograph this event which is a large fundraiser founded in 2001 for a local cause by BPG member Jim Edwards. \n8-10+ photographers wanted! \nhttp://bbcbikeride.com/ \nYou can select your location(s) around the area for capturing the best shots. A GPS map of the route and bikers’ rest /water stations is provided. Participate for however long you can.  \nRace starts 8:00 am. at the Annheuser-Busch Brewery. HOWEVER\, before and after the ride at the brewery is also great for photos. The ride starts at 08:00\, but cyclists arrive at 06:30. I suggest an early arrival if you plan on photographing before the ride. It is impressive seeing 1000 bicyclists all riding together. \nBeautiful Backroads Century Bike Ride \nIntroduction:  The beneficiary of the ride is Hickory Log\, a personal care home for men with special needs. The photographs will be posted on their website; riders love seeing themselves on the web. Your photos also serve as an important marketing function for future events.  \nPast photos from BPG members have been greatly appreciated. \nGeneral Event Information: Riders start gathering and preparing for ride at 6:30am.  \nYou will receive a VIP parking pass so you can park at the brewery in the parking lot on the right so you can get photos before and just as the race starts. The race itself starts at 8:00am. You can shoot for as long as you want.  \nRoute Information: Riders have a choice of 5 different routes\, the shortest at 14 miles and the longest at 100 miles. Note the longer the route the fewer the riders. To see each route\, go to the website for the event: http://bbcbikeride.com/ Now look at the top horizontal menu bar and click Ride details>Cue Sheets. Click on the route you would prefer and when in your car follow the route until you find place(s) to shoot. \nNote also that the routes will be marked with yellow signal directions written directly on the road.  \nTips for Taking Photographs: Use a telephoto lens. Pictures of the riders are preferred\, individually or in groups. You can freeze action or pan to simulate motion. To blur the background and wheel spokes\, consider panning starting with a shutter speed between 1/200 to 1/60 of a second.  \nSubmission of Photos: The more photos you submit the better. SUMMARY:BPG is invited to provide nature images for Art in Bartow's  "Gallery Below the Bridge" – Fall/Winter Show
DESCRIPTION:For our Fall / Winter show\, (October 1 – Jan 31) Art in Bartow is offering an opportunity to the Booth Photography Guild members to submit their nature photography images. There will be a jury of board members from Art in Bartow who will select the final images. These will be selected based on the quality of the images\, and on the ability to create a cohesive show. At the end of the show in early February\, the printed photographs will be available for sale for $50 each. This is a significant discount over what they cost to print\, and we like to know that the images can live on and not be destroyed. \n  \nThere are 18 vertical frames sized 4 feet tall by 2.5 feet tall. 48″x30″  \nThere is a 19th frame we’ll use for the title board giving credit to the BPG; each photographer’s name and image name will \nbe displayed beside the image. The permanently locked metal frames are mounted on each concrete column; images are professionally printed on pvc at high quality.  \n  \nSubmit up to 5 jpegs…NOW!
