2nd Saturday Learning Session

Steve Sidwell via zoom only

Secret Post Processing Techniques

Presentation Description

Since the release of masking tools Adobe Camera Raw is no longer limited to global adjustments and is now Steve’s selective light enhancement tool of choice. He will demonstrate some quick and easy ways to guide a viewer’s eye in and through a photograph – methods you might consider using in your processing.

The demonstration will include the use of ACR, Photoshop, Topaz Adjust 5, Topaz Studio 2 vignette tool and NIK Perspective Efex. He will demonstrate his view and method on one or two images, and he will then further demonstrate by applying his methodology to a viewer’s image.

Bio – Steve Sidwell

Steve became interested in photography after seeing Dorothea Lange’s photograph of the Migrant Mother somewhere during the late 70’s. Soon thereafter he bought his first camera, a Canon A-1 with an FD 50/1.8 and a couple rolls of TRI-X 400. He never became involved with dark room processing but remembers becoming frustrated with lab control of his pictures. His interest waned to shooting occasional family events.

Digital photography opened a new world.  His processing skills were limited, but he liked having the control, even if he didn’t know what to do with it. He met Lynn Henderson and John Mariana at a Rome Camera Club event and decided to explore what they mentioned of the BPG.  Steve’s  learning curve accelerated thereafter because of the Guild and John’s classes.

Steve appreciates the sharing of knowledge and encouragement received from his fellow photographers in the Guild and is humbled to have this opportunity to share his Secret Processing Recipe.
